North Street Methodist Church opened in 1869, and until 2012, there was a worshipping community on the site.
However it was discovered that the building was structurally unsound, and this gave way to an exciting new possibility... That the Church could start afresh!
The congregation at the time was merged with Bradfield Road Methodist Church, only 1/2 mile away, to become Coppenhall Methodist Church. The Bradfield Road site was completely renovated and refurbished to make it more suitable for use in the 21st century, and now hosts a range of activities from Methodist Worship to Children's activities to knitting and Weight Watchers!
The land at North Street was sold off to Wulvern Housing, and 18 social housing apartments are being built to the rear of the land, with a new church/community centre being built at the front of the land.
The new building has been opened since September 2015, and has become a hub for a range of information, advice, support and activities for the local community, is creating a church from scratch with no congregation or Sunday services, and houses a quality Coffee Shop open 6 days per week and serving a range of hot & cold drinks, cakes, panini, sandwiches and jacket potatoes.
